The Time to Change

Introductory Article

With this article and the subsequent lyric, I want to give space to a dear friend, a Florentine, a musician, a composer, a singer and, of course, a good Music teacher. Friendly and patient, I can assure you, Alessandro Pelagatti has composed music for theatrical performances, cultural events, weddings, parties and much more, also in collaboration with other musicians. The love he has for Music is innate, and by listening to his pieces—some of which have inspired several of my poems—you can perceive the artistic preparation and the passion that envelops and permeates every one of his compositions.
On this 19 March 2023, Pelagatti publishes the piece:
“Time to change”,
“The time to change”,
a performance of which I have heard only a few opening notes, but which already let the essence of the melody and the harmony of this labour of the Florentine composer shine through. With just this initial motif, I wrote a few lines, and following my lyric, I present and recommend the video with the piece mentioned, with my best wishes for the end of the year and a good beginning for the new one.

The Time to Change

When it flows through your veins,
when Music
or Art in general, Poetry,
is something you have in your blood,
you feel a warm flow
that raises the temperature,
makes you sweat, permeates you so deeply
that you feel no need to eat
nor the urge to sleep.
Your attention draws
from the well of creativity;
you think only of reaching
the point of giving birth to your idea,
writing it, setting it to music,
performing it or singing it,
and when you have reached the end,
you remain satisfied only halfway.
Like a child
who, just after making a mischief,
is pleased with himself
but cannot find peace
until the next time,
to do even better
and come up with an even nicer one.
A little, you remain that child,
astute and mischievous;
a little, you are the good author
walking along the road
of inner search,
and every single achievement
follows only the direction
of imitating the True Artist
with a subsequent,
new composition
that co-vibrates and gushes
from the depth of your heart,
granting you a new sight.
The time to change
comes when
one turns one’s aim to the heavenly,
to the higher plane, so that
those who listen in the earthly world
feel carried upward,
with a leap, a jump,
that, rising from the hidden part of oneself,
begins to circulate in the blood,
guiding the listeners
into that world immersed in Love
and surrounded by dazzling colours.
By navigating and fishing
from the endless sea,
in the heart and in the mind,
driven by the wind of ideas,
you compose masterfully,
sometimes stimulated
by the Planets and by the Moon,
like the immense mass of water
that swells and withdraws
with low and high tides.
