The Longed-For Goal
The Longed-For Goal
The poem reflects on the paradox of letting go: the moment when something long desired finally comes true is often the very moment we stop chasing it. The “longed-for goal” is not reached through control or constant effort, but paradoxically, it may occur in a moment of surrender, of inner detachment. If the goal we longed for was truly the right one…
The Longed-For Goal
When you least expect it
it may happen that one day—
or rather, in an instant—
a change may occur,
completely unforeseen,
right at the very moment
when, it would seem,
you had given up,
discouraged,
just waiting for the outcome.
What could have happened
to make a dream come true,
a project, a vision
for which, over a lifetime—or maybe more—
you had given so much effort?
Perhaps too much craving
had clouded
reason and intellect?
As chance would have it,
the longed-for goal
suddenly came to be,
precisely when
you had let it go
and detached yourself…
