Recensione a Favolandia e altre storie

Ho acquistato “Favolandia e altre storie” per i miei due nipoti. Il primo di 4 anni e il secondo di 2, con l’intento di leggere loro una filastrocca al giorno.

L’esperimento è iniziato da 3 giorni. B. di 4 anni chiede una filastrocca in più ed oggi ne ho lette ben 4. Per cui da una al giorno sono arrivata a metà libro. La partenza non è stata eccellente però ha ascoltato fino in fondo la filastrocca e mi ha detto: “scusa nonna ma ho una cosa importante da fare ci sentiamo domani”. E. 2 anni oggi piangeva prima che leggessi, poi si è calmato addormentandosi. Ho la netta sensazione che la più appassionata sia la mamma (mia figlia), la quale ascolta attentamente e mi chiede una nuova lettura. Mi rimangono le altre 10 e poi farò un altro resoconto. Credo che potrò anche leggerle nuovamente in loro “presenza” perché alcune richiedono delle spiegazioni aggiuntive nel senso che i nomi adoperati, sono studiati molto bene. Ma non tutti (anche io) ne conosciamo il significato o la storia. Per cui devo informarmi per poi spiegarglielo. Faccio un paio di esempi: Valeriana con la bella addormentata o le Costellazioni del bosco incantato.

Oggi con la bella addormentata e la Valeriana mi è scappata una risata e con me sentivo sorridere anche loro che mi ascoltavano.

Non solo mi piacciono molto, ma alcune mi hanno fatto davvero sorridere.

Ovviamente mentre (per ora) leggo al telefono, non posso spiegare più di tanto. La cosa che mi ha colpito è che non solo i nipoti me ne chiedono altre, ma anche la mia figliola.

Ad un certo punto mi sono dovuta fermare sul palombaro perché B. ha chiesto alla mamma cosa fosse.

Queste filastrocche sono sottili, ironiche e profonde e a me servono per stuzzicare la telefonata serale dei miei cuccioletti…

Devo riconoscere che ho avuto una buona idea ad acquistare il testo e i suoi contenuti sono davvero utili e carini.

Le leggo con loro la prima volta e non ero pronta per questa tua visione originale.

Dimenticavo… volano leggere, come un soffio su temi che non lo sono affatto.

Poi ti saprò dire come continua l’esperimento perché c’e ancora la lettura in presenza e la parte dei disegni e dei colori… anche se per ora mi sembra un pò presto per questo…. Ma non si sa mai. I bambini sono pieni di sorprese e anche i grandi devo dire la verità, non sono da meno.

Per quella che è stata questa divertente parziale esperienza, consiglio l’acquisto del libro e ti faccio i miei complimenti.

Review of Favolandia and Other Stories

I bought Favolandia and Other Stories for my two grandchildren. The older one is 4 years old, the younger is 2. My plan was to read them one nursery rhyme per day.

The experiment began three days ago. B., the 4-year-old, now asks for an extra rhyme, and today I ended up reading four. So from one a day, we’re already halfway through the book. The start wasn’t great, but he did listen all the way through the first rhyme and then said, “Sorry grandma, but I’ve got something important to do, talk to you tomorrow.” E., the 2-year-old, was crying before I started reading, then calmed down and fell asleep.

I get the distinct feeling that the most passionate listener is actually their mother (my daughter), who listens carefully and asks for another reading. I still have 10 left to go and will write another review. I think I’ll be able to read them again “in their presence,” because some of the rhymes need further explanation—some names are really well chosen, but not everyone (myself included) knows their meaning or backstory. So I’ll need to do a bit of research to explain. A couple of examples: Valerian with Sleeping Beauty, or The Constellations of the Enchanted Forest.

Today, with Sleeping Beauty and Valerian, I couldn’t help but laugh—and I could hear them smiling along with me.

Not only do I really enjoy them, but some genuinely made me laugh out loud.

Of course, since I’m reading over the phone (for now), I can’t go into too much detail. What strikes me most is that not only do the kids ask for more, but so does my daughter.

At one point I had to stop at The Deep-Sea Diver because B. asked his mother what that was.

These nursery rhymes are subtle, ironic, and deep—and for me, they’re a great way to spark that evening phone call with my little ones…

I must say, buying this book was a great idea—its content is truly delightful and valuable.

I read them with the children the first time and I wasn’t quite prepared for your original perspective.

I almost forgot… they glide lightly, like a breath, over topics that are anything but light.

I’ll let you know how the experiment continues, because there’s still the in-person reading and the part with drawings and coloring… even if it might be a little early for that for now… But you never know. Children are full of surprises—and to be honest, so are adults.

Based on this fun and partial experience, I highly recommend buying the book and I offer you my congratulations.

Cosa mi scrivono i lettori di Poeticando

Da oggi inizio una nuova collaborazione artistica con Maurizio De Cicco, autore di poesie, filastrocche, articoli a sfondo storico-culturale… insomma uno scrittore, anche se lui non ama troppo i titoli. Mi sono piaciute le sue opere perché semplici, ma profonde allo stesso tempo per i contenuti; ironiche al punto giusto perché comunicate rispecchiando quella sottile ironia toscana che non guasta mai; culturali per l’espressione dei concetti che esprime mettendo in luce una certa conoscenza; istruttive, dato che senza calcare la mano evidenzia alcune informazioni talora sconosciute ai più, perché come mi ha detto personalmente: “alcune non le conoscevo nemmeno io, ma quando ho trovato la notizia l’ho riportata inserendola in uno dei miei scritti”. Presentato da un amico comune, Maurizio ha iniziato a scrivere poesie quasi per caso mentre stava portando avanti una sua ricerca personale sulla misteriosa Sindone, pubblicata nel 2014, 2015 e 2017. Quest’ultima in versione ampliata. La prima lirica, come mi ha detto, è del 2015. Ha catalogato alla data odierna 1419, tra poesie e filastrocche. Le altre, dice che non contano. Alla fine del 2018, per mettersi alla prova ha iniziato a partecipare ad alcuni concorsi e premi letterari. Nel 2019 ha avuto 12 riconoscimenti, tra i quali la pubblicazione della silloge “Pensieri Scritti” al concorso internazionale “Pegasus Literary Awards” di Cattolica, oltre a vari premi speciali della giuria. Per la poesia ha pubblicato già 5 testi fra cui 2 di filastrocche per grandi e piccini, veramente istruttive e divertenti, oltre che originali.

È quindi con immenso piacere, invitandovi alla lettura poetica legata alla fotografia, che vado a presentare questa gradita collaborazione artistica.

Starting today, I’m beginning a new artistic collaboration with Maurizio De Cicco—author of poems, nursery rhymes, and articles with historical and cultural themes… in short, a writer, although he doesn’t care much for titles. I’ve enjoyed his works because they are simple yet profound in their content; appropriately ironic, reflecting that subtle Tuscan irony that’s always appreciated; cultural, in the way he expresses concepts with evident knowledge; and educational, as he manages to highlight lesser-known facts without being pedantic—just as he once told me: “Some of these things I didn’t even know myself, but when I found the information, I included it in one of my writings.”

Introduced to me by a mutual friend, Maurizio began writing poetry almost by chance while pursuing a personal study on the mysterious Shroud of Turin, which he published in 2014, 2015, and again in 2017 in an expanded edition. His first poem, as he told me, dates back to 2015. To date, he has catalogued 1,419 poems and nursery rhymes—he says the rest don’t count. At the end of 2018, he decided to challenge himself by entering literary contests and awards. In 2019 alone, he received 12 acknowledgments, including the publication of his poetry collection Pensieri Scritti at the international contest “Pegasus Literary Awards” in Cattolica, along with various special jury awards. In the field of poetry, he has already published 5 books, including 2 collections of nursery rhymes for both children and adults—genuinely educational, fun, and original.

So it is with great pleasure, and an invitation to explore his poetry alongside photography, that I present this much-welcomed artistic collaboration.

Recensione a Favolandia e altre storie

Quando entro in una libreria, mi dirigo istintivamente verso lo stand che espone libri illustrati per bambini. Sono stati sempre la mia passione fin da bambina, innamorata della lettura, dei disegni e delle matite colorate. La copertina di “Favolandia” ha fatto su di me lo stesso effetto, anche ora che di anni comincio ad averne! Un veliero sul mare increspato, le nuvole, le rondini, l’arcobaleno, il sole…e il libro si apre su un mondo di navigatori, dove grandi e piccini cavalcano le onde dell’immaginazione.

Spesso mi chiedo: ma l’Italia è ancora il popolo dei poeti e dei navigatori?

Ben lo sa Maurizio De Cicco che, nella sua raccolta di filastrocche, ha saputo rispondere con un “Sì” forte e deciso, e con una scrittura “leggera” e ironica, ma non per questo meno educativa.

In un mondo dominato dal computer, è necessario fare spazio alle filastrocche e ad una “sana” fantasia. Su questo scenario si apre “Favolandia” che, partendo da oggetti, animali, elementi e quant’altro fa parte del mondo sensibile, ci conduce alla contemplazione del “Bosco stellato”.

Le filastrocche parlano ai piccoli, ma anche al bambino interiore che abita ancora dentro di noi, attraverso i moti dell’anima del Poeta che, con discrezione ed ironia, ci guida a leggere i momenti di vita, trascendendo la realtà, per coglierne gli aspetti più profondi.

Il ritmo dato dalle rime è simile a quello delle “ninne nanne” e delle “conte”, che da sempre continuano a “cantarci” dentro.

Whenever I walk into a bookstore, I instinctively head toward the stand with illustrated children’s books. They’ve always been my passion—ever since I was a little girl in love with reading, drawings, and colored pencils. The cover of Favolandia had the same effect on me, even now that I’m a few years older! A sailing ship on a rippling sea, clouds, swallows, a rainbow, the sun… and the book opens into a world of voyagers, where young and old ride the waves of imagination.

I often ask myself: Is Italy still the land of poets and seafarers?

Maurizio De Cicco knows it well. In this collection of rhymes, he answers with a firm and resounding “Yes,” using a style that is “light” and ironic, yet no less educational for it.

In a world ruled by computers, we must make room for rhymes and for a “healthy” imagination. This is the backdrop of Favolandia, which—starting from objects, animals, natural elements, and all that belongs to the tangible world—guides us toward the contemplation of the Starry Forest.

These rhymes speak to children, but also to the inner child that still lives within us, through the soul’s movements of the Poet, who—gently and playfully—invites us to look beyond appearances and grasp the deeper layers of life.

The rhythm created by the rhymes recalls that of lullabies and counting songs, which continue to “sing” within us, always.
