Per non dimenticare

Una delle mie prime composizioni, l’ho scritta in prossimità della “Giornata della memoria” del 2019.

Il testo originale è presente nella silloge “Pensieri Scritti”, pubblicazione vinta come 2° classificato all’XI “Pegasus Literary Awards”, Città di Cattolica, 2019, a p.122. Oggi anziché pubblicare la stessa poesia, presento una nuova lirica per “non dimenticare” uno dei più grandi crimini contro Dio e l’umanità.

Lest We Forget

One of my earliest poems was written around the time of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in 2019.
The original text appears in the collection Pensieri Scritti, which won 2nd place at the XI “Pegasus Literary Awards” in Cattolica, 2019 (p.122).
Today, instead of re-sharing that same poem, I present a new piece—
a fresh lyric to ensure we never forget one of the greatest crimes against God and humanity.

Per non dimenticare

Spazi tristi e angusti,

anticamera di dolore,

sofferenza, ingiustizia, morte.

Campi di concentramento.

Oppressione ingiustificata,

vite strappate senza motivo

all’ordinaria esistenza

e anche alla straordinaria.

Aguzzini irridenti verso

vecchi, anziani,

uomini, donne, bambini.

Nessuno sconto e nessuna pietà.

Lo stesso metodo

che verrà applicato a loro

nel giorno del giudizio

davanti al Tribunale di Dio.

Due triangoli sovrapposti

con i vertici opposti

saranno quella Stella che splenderà

sopra le loro teste,

mentre arderanno

tra sulfuree fiamme,

per tutta l’Eternità.

Lest We Forget

Sad and narrow spaces,
antechambers of pain,
suffering, injustice, death.
Concentration camps.
Unjustified oppression,
lives torn away without reason
from ordinary existence—
and even from the extraordinary.
Mocking tormentors
against the old, the elderly,
men, women, and children.
No mercy, no reprieve.
The very same measure
shall be dealt to them
on the Day of Judgment,
before the Court of God.
Two interlaced triangles
with opposing points
will become the Star that shines
above their heads
as they burn
in sulfurous flames,
for all Eternity.
