Non è facile trovare le parole giuste per esprimere il proprio dissenso contro qualsiasi forma di violenza ai danni dei più fragili e deboli, senza lasciarsi trasportare da forti emozioni. Il peccato più grave che si possa compiere, innanzi tutto contro Dio e anche contro l’umanità, è l’omicidio volontario. Per il mio modo di vedere non ci sono scusanti, né tanto meno attenuanti. Onde evitare inutili polemiche, non aggiungo altro. Posso solamente pubblicare la prima poesia che ho scritto e con cui ho partecipato ad alcuni Premi letterari  ed è quella che apre la mia pubblicazione

“Si dice Donna”,

raccolta di 100 poesie più una dedicata alle donne.

In  questa mia raccolta del 2023, dedico 100 scritti in versi alle Donne. Se qualcuno si domandasse del perché di quel + 1, si tratta di quella aggiunta prima della stampa, che avevo dedicata a mia madre, scomparsa a dicembre del 2022. Infatti é una filastrocca scritta  per lei a mo’ di amorevole presa in giro.

Anche se nella forma alcune correzioni possono apparire plausibili, lascio il testo così come l’ho scritta la prima volta. Per me è stata una pietra miliare e una grande iniezione di fiducia per potere proseguire sulla “strada” della Poesia. E poi, regalare un libro è un’ottima idea… Volendo tradurre il testo in inglese, pubblicando quello italiano a fronte, ho “dovuto” dividere il libro in due  volumi:

It is not easy to find the right words to express one’s dissent against any form of violence inflicted on the most fragile and vulnerable, without being overwhelmed by strong emotions.
The gravest sin one can commit—first and foremost against God, and also against humanity—is voluntary homicide.
In my view, there are no excuses, nor any mitigating circumstances.
To avoid unnecessary controversy, I will say no more.
I can only publish the first poem I ever wrote and submitted to a few literary awards,
and it is the one that opens my collection
She is Woman,
a compilation of 100 poems plus one, all dedicated to women.

In this collection of mine, published in 2023, I dedicate 100 poems to Women.
If anyone is wondering about the meaning of that +1, it refers to a piece I added just before printing—
a poem dedicated to my mother, who passed away in December 2022.
In fact, it’s a nursery rhyme written for her as a loving, playful tribute.

Even though some corrections may seem reasonable in form, I have chosen to keep the text exactly as I wrote it the very first time.
For me, it was a milestone and a great boost of confidence that allowed me to continue along the “path” of Poetry.
Besides, giving a book as a gift is always a great idea…
When I decided to translate the text into English and publish the Italian version alongside it, I “had to” split the book into two volumes:

Si aprono le porte

 

Cosa mai fa scatenar violenza

contro indifese donne

che veri cavalieri

in epoche diverse,

chiamavano madonne.

Eppure, dalla donna,

siamo stati generati

allevati custoditi

e talora, troppe volte,

pur colpevoli, difesi.

Ti ha portato nove mesi

nel suo grembo con amore

e per lei, sei solamente

tutto quello che ha nel cuore.

Ora dimmi cosa passa

per la tua bacata mente,

se le mani sulla donna

alzi improvvisamente.

La colpisci, la schiaffeggi,

così forte, brutalmente,

non ti fermi neanche quando,

cade a terra supplicante.

Con la faccia sanguinante

gli occhi pieni di paura

col terrore dentro il cuore

con un rantolo di voce,

dice: basta per favore!

Poi ti fermi, chiedi scusa

la richiami ancora amore

come fosse sufficiente

per lenire le violenze.

Ora pensa a questa sorte

ti toccasse dopo morte…

si spalancano per te,

dell’inferno le sue porte.

The Doors Open 

What could ever unleash such violence
against defenceless women,
whom noble knights,
in ages long gone by,
would call their madonnas?

And yet, from a woman
we were born,
nurtured and protected,
and at times—too often—
defended, though guilty.

She carried you for nine months
in her womb, with love,
and to her, you are simply
everything she holds in her heart.

Now tell me what goes
through your rotten mind,
when your hands, upon a woman,
you suddenly raise.

You hit her, you slap her,
so hard, so brutally,
you don’t even stop
when she falls to the ground, begging.

With her face bleeding,
her eyes filled with fear,
terror clutching her heart,
with a rasping voice,
she says: please, that’s enough!

Then you stop, say you’re sorry,
call her “my love” once more,
as if that could be enough
to ease the violence done.

Now think of this fate
awaiting you after death…
swinging wide open for you
are hell’s very own doors.
