In attesa dei raggi del sole – Eng
In attesa dei raggi del sole
Waiting for the Sun’s Rays
In the mirror of a lake’s still water,
A true image gently comes to light;
But in the play of colors and shadows,
It seems blurred and turned upside down.
What changes the pure image’s essence
Is the background of the first landscape,
With skies covered by waiting clouds,
Awaiting the arrival of the sun’s rays.
The reflection appears so suggestive
To the curious mind that gazes close,
Remaining dazzled and surprised
By the view produced upon the water.
Just a thread of wind is all it takes,
A thought that passes through the mind,
And the lake begins to ripple softly,
Stirring the once-smooth mirrored face.
Then more thoughts come to join the turmoil,
Upsetting both mind and mirrored glass,
And once again disturbed and troubled,
It calms only by steady breathing—
That restless subject, truly angered,
With a rhythm sweeter and more measured.
Once more calm and gently quieted,
It faces once again the mirror,
Re-seeing the true image reflected,
Though appearing blurred and upside down.
But when it finally realizes
That Someone above is looking in,
To see Himself reflected there,
What kind of image then awaits?
Cleanse well that solid mirror,
Polishing its surface bright,
Awaiting the Pure Image
Of the One who cares for everyone:
May He see Himself reflected there.
