La luce vera
The True Light
Lost in thought,
immersed in worries,
entangled in problems,
benumbed by sophisms,
humanity is sailing
toward the drift.
Minds grown dim
have lost the ship’s wheel;
the sea is swelling,
navigation grows ever
more difficult. The reefs
begin to surface.
Before it rises a sea monster,
emerging from the depths
of the abyss, revealing itself
to human eyes.
Gigantic, dark, tenebrous,
it instills fear and terror,
feeds depression,
fans chaos and confusion,
and humanity dreads
the final collapse.
The trial to overcome is harsh,
yet that sea creature
has a weak point:
it fears the light, the true light,
which fallen humanity,
adrift and scattered on the open sea,
can kindle in the heart
the moment it begins to pray.
