Perdono e per…dono

Forgiveness and for…giving

Within and without,

in the heart or from the heart?

To externalise an inner aspect

what does it amount to?

Alchemy

Rebirth

Transmutation

Evolution?

Or, all four together

to form certain characteristics

that describe the Art?

Should the proud and dignified bearing within

be matched

by an equally

outward demeanour?

Since the eyes

are the mirror

of the soul,

it would certainly seem so.

The light filtering through

corneas and pupils

makes the meaning perfectly clear.

Like a crystal-clear cascade

that forms a golden lake

in the heart of a woodland,

secluded and serene.

In the same way

as a burning heart

aflame with Love

for the Beloved.

And yet, despite

our good intentions and resolutions,

we crucify Him every day

and at every moment

of our lives,

with our presumptuous,

irreverent, way of being.

Who knows whether one day

we shall recognise

that we were wrong

and ask Him for forgiveness.

And perhaps He, in His for…giving,

will grant it to us.
