Fermate il mondo, voglio scendere – Eng
🇬🇧 English Version
Fermate il mondo, voglio scendere
Stop the world, I want to get off!
When the world was created,
a time was set,
a span determined.
How long
was a single day meant to last?
An emissary
of the Creator replied:
“Twenty-four hours!”
“And who are you?”
asked a passerby.
“The Sun!” he answered boldly.
“I rise in the morning, at dawn,
with the first light.
I climb high into the sky
at midday.
Toward evening I begin to withdraw,
and at night I lie down to rest.
Unlike you,
who must sleep,
here I set and elsewhere I rise—
for what you see is but an effect.
In truth, I Am always standing,
always awake, always active,
always, always, always.”
Hearing these words,
the poor passerby
felt he did not understand,
and, as if surrendering,
looked up into the sky and declared:
“Stop the world,
I want to get off!”
