The Constant Drop – The Transformative Power of Words and Images

Inside the Neptune’s Grotto (Alghero, Sardinia) A silent world shaped by water and time. Stalactites and stalagmites tell a millenary tale—drop after drop—in a harmony of wonder and patience.

The Constant Drop

Metaphor, parallelism, and universal thought lead the reader to deep reflection.
This is the evocative power of words.
When linked to an image, the latter serves as a support for deeper meditation.
To paraphrase Pavel Aleksandrovič Florenskij:
“The magical value of the Word.”

The Constant Drop

Inside a cave,
a drop of water
from the upper side
falls downward,
striking the layer
of lower rock.
It has been so since time immemorial,
and that constancy,
perseverance, insistence,
is the cause of the change
in the form of that matter.
The substance of the drop
has transmuted the appearance
of sensitive nature,
bringing about a transformation.
The Hymn, the Ode, the Prayer,
like that drop of water
carving into the rock,
into the essence of human nature,
sculpts and shapes that stone,
giving the form
the possibility of
true transmutation.
